General Sales Manager (Lexington, KY)

Longship is a third-party logistics company specializing in over the road truckloads of fresh, frozen, and dry shipments. We excel in providing uncompromising customer service by guaranteeing our clients that their product will be transported in a safe and timely manner. We are currently hiring for the position of General Sales Manager.

The ideal General Sales Manager will have experience in managing a sales team, freight brokering, operations, and customer service. This is someone who has an advanced understanding of the freight market and can lead & develop a team of 20+ Account Executives.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, lead, develop, and manage Longship Account Executives
  • Facilitate the performance of an Account Executive Sales Team through weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly performance reviews
  • Achieve objectives through effective planning, setting sales goals, analyzing data on past performance, and projecting future performance
  • Develop a scalable sales process and ensure representatives adhere to it correctly
  • Strategically foster customer engagement
  • Travel with sales staff as needed to cultivate customer relationship and represent Longship from the management level

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of 3rd Party Logistics/Freight Brokering experience (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to develop and manage up-and-coming sales employees
  • Experience in selling, quoting & booking freight
  • Track record of meeting/exceeding goals as a team player & individual contributor
  • Demonstrates good judgment, familiarity with internal business concepts, and strong sales, communication, & interpersonal skills
  • Professional & punctual approach to the work environment

Account Executive (Lexington, KY)

Our Account Executives are highly motivated, goal oriented and strong communicators who succeed in a fast-paced environment. They oversee customer shipments from pickup to on-time delivery, assuring an efficient process. Every time.

Our Account Executives set and maintain high standards of service and reliability and we take pride in their contributions. As such, we are committed to recruiting, training, and retaining intelligent and tenacious individuals. Responsibilities

  • Prospect and develop strong professional relationships—via phone and e-mails — to sell freight transportation brokerage services
  • Provide full cycle customer service from contract to delivery
  • Understand the customers’ shipping needs and negotiate rates
  • Contact carriers/trucking companies to find the most efficient shipping option, provide order tracking and delivery confirmation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain the flow of business information with a sense of urgency
  • Contacting customers daily to not only generate revenue but maintain the relationship
  • Responsible for identifying sales opportunities and closing sales
  • Other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Entrepreneurial sales approach, no set territories.
  • Cold calling- not afraid to pick up the phone
  • Aptitude and appreciation for selling in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and follow-thru abilities.
  • Strong work ethic with a team mentality
