Staff Accountant (Lexington, KY)
The ideal Staff Accountant will be ethical, thorough, and detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Act as an internal liaison between accounting and other Longship departments—providing key decision support
- Research and resolve discrepancies and/or accounting errors by examining possible sources of disagreement and create correction plans as needed
- Daily cash application—process and reconcile accounts receivable (A/R) and remittances; apply payments accurately to customer accounts
- Assist Controller with all accounting and accounting systems transactions ensuring timely financial reporting
- Provide financial performance metrics and analysis to management while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting transactions
- Working with other members of the accounting department to compile, analyze, and report financial data.
- Using bookkeeping software and entering information into company files or databases, ensuring that all financial records are complete and accurate.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required)
- 2+ years of proven experience and success in a similar role
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and math skills.
- Proficiency with computers, email, and a multi-line phone system
- High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially when multitasking.
- Ability to work in a team setting while producing independent results

Account Executive (Lexington, KY)

Responsibilities:
- Prospect and develop strong professional relationships—via phone and e-mails — to sell freight transportation brokerage services

- Manage detention, layover, and other accessorial costs with carrier

Night Dispatcher (Lexington, KY)
The ideal Night Dispatcher candidate will maintain regular and punctual attendance, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external parties, and must have the ability to work independently as well as in team setting.
Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming calls as they arrive on the Night Dispatch que
- Perform check calls as directed by Longship Account Executives
- Provide timely and efficient updates to Account Executives as they become available
- Use effective listening skills to collect required information and/or to identify potential conflicts
- Practice professional phone etiquette; provide excellent customer service to customers and carriers
- Troubleshoot problem loads and resolve issues pertaining to delays, accidents, pickup/delivery numbers, and paperwork questions
- Issue advances to carriers pertaining to unloading charges and fuel advances
- Maintain communication with carrier while loads are in transit

Qualifications:
- High school graduate (Associate Degree preferred)
- Dispatching experience (preferred not required)
- Customer service background preferably in a call center environment
- Attention to detail and confident decision-making skills

Schedule:
This is a full-time position with hours ranging from 35-40hrs/per week. The working schedule is posted monthly, and we ask that qualifying candidates have the following availability:
