Account Executive (Lexington, KY)

Our Account Executives are highly motivated, goal oriented and strong communicators who succeed in a fast-paced environment. They oversee customer shipments from pickup to on-time delivery, assuring an efficient process. Every time.

Our Account Executives set and maintain high standards of service and reliability and we take pride in their contributions. As such, we are committed to recruiting, training, and retaining intelligent and tenacious individuals. Responsibilities:
  • Prospect and develop strong professional relationships—via phone and e-mails — to sell freight transportation brokerage services
  • Provide full cycle customer service from contract to delivery
  • Understand the customers’ shipping needs and negotiate rates
  • Contact carriers/trucking companies to find the most efficient shipping option, provide order tracking and delivery confirmation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain the flow of business information with a sense of urgency
  • Contacting customers daily to not only generate revenue but maintain the relationship
  • Responsible for identifying sales opportunities and closing sales
  • Other duties as required or assigned

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Entrepreneurial sales approach, no set territories.
  • Cold calling- not afraid to pick up the phone
  • Aptitude and appreciation for selling in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and follow-thru abilities.
  • Strong work ethic with a team mentality

Logistics Specialist (Lexington, KY)
The ideal Logistics Specialist is eager to learn, highly motivated to succeed, and possess a positive, energetic demeanor.
 
The Logistics Specialist must be good at balancing relationships, demonstrates strong communication, and is able to resolve problems in a timely manner.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison between carrier, shipper, and receiver
  • Facilitate the movement of the customer freight – entering loads from customer tenders, scheduling/rescheduling appointments for all loads, etc.
  • Monitor daily pick-ups/deliveries and verify loads arrived on time & in good condition
  • Escalate Account Executive on problem loads, and the actions that will or have been taken
  • Update receivers and customers on the status of loads
  • Negotiate and confirm rates with carriers
  • Manage detention, layover, and other accessorial costs with carrier
  • Other duties as required or assigned
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • 3rd Party Logistics experience; selling, quoting, & booking freight (preferred)
  • Strong prioritization skills, multitasking skills, and works with a sense of urgency
  • Flexible, willing to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment
  • Ability to work in a team setting, while also delivering independent results
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer literacy and verbal & written communication skills
  • An ability to apply common sense to resolve issues and complete tasks effectively
 
Schedule:
  • Full-time; Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Senior Account Executive (Nashville, TN)

Longship has opened a new office in Nashville, TN and is in search of an experienced Senior Account Executive to join our team.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned Senior Account Executive with experience in freight brokering, operations, and customer service. This is someone who has an advanced understanding of the freight market and can hit the ground running with a turnkey operation.

Longship is looking for a sales professional who is proven in experience with an active customer base, skilled at building rapport, opening doors, and understanding business requirements of senior decision makers.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Procure and develop new business
  • Make calls to customers; solicit & price freight
  • Achieve company objectives through effective planning, sales goal setting, and projecting future performance
  • Strategically foster customer engagement

Night Dispatcher (Lexington, KY)
The ideal Night Dispatcher candidate will maintain regular and punctual attendance, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external parties, and must have the ability to work independently as well as in team setting.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming calls as they arrive on the Night Dispatch que
  • Perform check calls as directed by Longship Account Executives
  • Provided timely and efficient updates to Account Executives as they become available
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers and carriers
  • Use effective listening skills to collect required information or to identify potential conflicts
  • Correspond with carriers and brokers to provide timely updates
  • Develop relationships with customers and drivers
  • Practice professional phone etiquette
  • Troubleshoot problem loads and resolve issues pertaining to delays, accidents, pickup/delivery numbers, and paperwork questions
  • Perform Carrier Setup duties, vet carriers, and update carrier database as needed
  • Issue advances to carriers pertaining to unloading charges and fuel advances
  • Maintain communication with carrier while loads are in transit
  • Other duties as required or assigned

 

Qualifications:
  • High school graduate (Associate Degree preferred)
  • Dispatching experience (preferred not required)
  • Customer service background preferably in a call center environment
  • Attention to detail and confident decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage time and resources efficiently
  • Proficient computer literacy

 

Schedule:

This is a full-time position with five (5), 8-hour shifts scheduled weekly. The working schedule is posted monthly, and we ask that qualifying candidates have the following availability:

  • Monday-Friday: 5 PM – 1 AM
  • Saturday: 8 AM – 8 PM
  • Sunday: 8 AM – 8 PM
